About aVidaNova

aVidaNova was set up to help rescue extremely at-risk Brazilian girls from the dire life conditions of abuse, homelessness, sexual exploitation, and abandonment.

Denise Richardson with a group of girls from aVidaNovaStatistics compiled by the Justice Department of Brazil show that child prostitution is present in all of the Brazilian state capitals and in many of the large cities. Sexual exploitation of minors is most prevalent in the interior of Brazil, in poorer towns in which the population is between 20,000 and 100,000. The Brazilian government is actively pursuing ways of curtailing sexual exploitation of minors with stricter laws and harsher penalties for offenders.

aVidaNova operates within the guidelines of the Brazilian government and local juvenile jurisdictions. aVidaNova partners with Brazilian social services,
government, and other foundations to break the cycle of exploited young girls.

aVidaNova functions on the strong belief that a family setting is the best environment for the total care of rescued, at-risk girls. Vilas (villages) are set up with two or more houses, and each home is staffed by house parents and set up to accommodate 5 to 8 girls in a family-style setting.
